Undie Sundays/Hat and Mittens in NOVEMBER
In November before winter sets in, South Gate will be collecting NEW UNDERWEAR (including the long thermal style), WARM SOCKS, HATS and MITTENS for distribution at the Eva Rothwell Centre, Mission Services, and Neighbour 2 Neighbour.
Our donation days have been Monday, November 23 and Monday, December 14 from 9:30 am to 11:30 am.
Watch for further information about drop-off donation days which will take place at the the South Gate north side entrance door.
If you are unable to bring your donations, please Email the church to arrange for a front porch pick-up.
Christmas Toy Drive
Unfortunately because of COVID restrictions, there will be no Christmas toy drive at South Gate this year.
The need for food is a constant struggle for many people living in our community. We accept non-perishable food donations, toiletries, baby food, formula and diapers, and books to give to our friends at Neighbour 2 Neighbour Food Bank.
Suggested items include:
The Eva Rothwell Resource Centre is building a strong and healthy community by providing programs and services to kids and families. We accept clean, gently used clothing to be donated to the Centre.
Through education, counseling and advocacy, Wayside House helps to improve the lives of substance dependent men. Each Thanksgiving, we donate the fresh produce collected for our festive display in the sanctuary. For Thanksgiving 2020, due to COVID restrictions, congregational monetary donations were forwarded to Wayside House.
Seniors’ Community Lunch — Sharing food and fellowship.
At noon, on the third Wednesday of each month (excluding July and August), everyone in the church and community is most welcome to join us as we enjoy a meal together. Each month will feature a different after-lunch topic, ranging from guest speakers to games, to information of interest to seniors.
Please watch for information about the next date and topic for this event to start once again.
Back-to-School Back Packs
During summer months, the South Gate church fills back packs for the start of the school year in September. The back packs are filled following the worship service on the last Sunday of August, with the back packs then being delivered to Neighbour 2 Neighbour, Mission Services and the Eva Rothwell Resource Centre.
